Mail order terms of business

1 Plant Specification

Plants vary in size from 9cm to 3 litre pots. In most cases prices quoted are for plants growing in 1 litre pots, however, early in the season plants may be smaller, and equally later in the season they can be larger, depending on the plant. We can adjust prices accordingly if this is the case and notify you of any changes. Please note that before dispatch plants may be removed from their pots and bagged carefully in order to make packaging easier. Also, in spring or autumn we may send out bare root plants of suitable species.

2 Payment Options

Please send your order form to the address shown at the top of the form.  All orders should be accompanied by a cheque or postal order made out to ‘Chipchase Castle Nursery’ (Alternatively you can pay by card-see details below). If we are unable to supply the plants you request we will make replacements from your substitution list wherever possible. If this is not possible we will provide a refund by cheque and send this along with your order. An alternative is to leave your payment cheque blank and write across the top ‘Not to exceed £X’, ‘X’ representing the maximum amount you wish to pay. The cheque will be completed when your plants are despatched, and the invoice will confirm the exact amount.

If you would like to pay by card please provide your card number, it's expiry date and the last 3 numbers of the security code on the reverse of the card. Please note that a section for these details can be found at the end of the order form, which can be downloaded below.

3 Delivery

Delivery is by courier and our standard charge is £6.00 for up to 20 plants.

This is a next Day service within the UK. If you are ordering from elsewhere, (inc. Northern Ireland & the Scottish Highlands & Islands) or wish to place a larger order, please contact us for further information about delivery costs.

4 When your plants arrive

On arrival unpack your plants as soon as you can. If conditions allow plant them straight away, if not, water them if necessary and store in a sheltered position, cold frame or greenhouse. Please let us know asap if the plants do not arrive in good condition. No responsibility can be accepted for failure after planting when a range of external factors can influence success. Please note that most of our herbaceous perennials will be sent out during the dormant season and may show little sign of top growth, although a healthy root system will be evident in the pot or bag.
